Curriculum - After School Learning Club

 After School Learning Club

Our After School Learning Club is proudly supported by the Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation and aims to provide assistance with literacy, numeracy, self-management, social skills and resilience to all indigenous students in years 1-6.

Learning Clubs incorporate an activity linked to STEM, as well as focusing on Literacy and Numeracy outcomes. The programs are reflective of students’ passions and interests. Activities have included gardening, cooking, robotics, Design and Technology, sports and games.

Our club prides itself on incorporating a connection to culture into our sessions. We inspire students to be proud of who they are, encourage them to tell yarns and speak language in a safe and fun environment, promote gratitude for the things we have and most importantly listen to what they have to say.

As tutors it is important to us that our Indigenous students have a positive experience at school in order to achieve their very best.

The sessions are held in the Science Room at North Tom Price Primary School on Mondays and Thursdays from 2:20pm – 4.00pm.

The layout of each session runs as follows:

2:20pm – Students meet in the Science Room and we record attendance

   2.30pm – Acknowledgement of Country

   2.35pm - Share afternoon tea

2:45pm - Students focus on STEM and other activities based on their needs and ages.

3:40pm - Pack up and play an outdoor game.

4.00pm - Students are dismissed from the Assembly Undercover Area
