North Tom Price Primary School is one of two primary schools located in Tom Price in the Pilbara region of WA, approximately 1500 kilometres from Perth. We deliver educational programs to around 260 students from Kindy (4 year olds) to Year 7 (12 year olds). In addition, we host the 'Transition to School' program facilitated by the local Early Years Group for 3 year old children in the Tom Price community. Our school currently offers specialist classes in Japanese, Art and Physical Education and some of our students also elect to participate in instrumental music lessons. Other opportunities provided for our students include both support and extension programs and after school sport. Due to our high student transiency, we offer a strong pastoral care program and we also focus on high standards of student behaviour.

Our school prides itself on its welcoming, caring and supportive culture. The many links with community groups and agencies reflect the community ethos of our school. We also enjoy strong collaborative relationships with our families who are encouraged to participate and to be actively involved.

Despite our remote location, our staff participate in a range of ongoing professional learning opportunities which have assisted our students to achieve significantly improved results over recent years. We are continually striving to improve the technology available to our students and they enjoy access to desktop computers, laptops, interactive whiteboards and a wireless network. School staff are very committed and work hard to provide challenging and motivating programs. Both teaching and non-teaching staff members were nominated for awards in 2010.

Our school has very green and attractive grounds and is surrounded by the nearby hills of the Hamersley Ranges. The school enjoys extensive facilities including new music and art rooms funded through the 'Building the Education Revolution' building program. We share a community oval which is linked to the school ensuring our children have access to extensive play areas. Many maintenance and improvement projects are also underway throughout the school to ensure the learning environment is continually improved for our students.
